LOCATION
MILLSTONE TEA ROOM is located at 9058 Big Island Highway in Bedford, Virginia. While not technically in the City of Bedford, our address places us in the bucolic countryside of Bedford County 9 miles north on state route 122 (Big Island Highway). This road (122) winds south and further west (in the other direction) heading toward Smith Mountain Lake at the south end of Bedford City (Moneta Road); confusing the two will put travelers nearly one hour out of their way, so beware!
THERE ARE MANY gorgeous shortcuts through Bedford County to Millstone Tea Room from north, south, east and west. While we have traveled all of them, our recommendations are following the simple (read, quickest) directions below:
FROM LYNCHBURG & POINTS NORTH OF AMHERST:
Follow 501 north from Boonsboro Road/Rivermont Ave toward Big Island, Virginia (approx.10 miles from city limit near Coffee Road). Turn Left at Va-122 (South)after driving through Big Island and drive just over 8.5 miles to our restaurant. We'll be on the right.
FROM WEST LYNCHBURG (TIMBERLAKE/FOREST), CAMPBELL COUNTY & POINTS EAST:
Lynchburgers (Timberlake/Forest Areas) can take Va-221 West toward the City of Bedford and turn right on Va-671 (Centerville Road). At the end of this road, make a right heading north and Millstone Tea Room is approx. 7 miles on the left, just after North Otter Creek.
Other guests simply follow Va-460 West toward the City of Bedford. The FIRST exit available for Va-122 (North) bearing right will take you to Independence Blvd. A major pharmacy will be on your left at this intersection. Continue through the light (North) until you reach the intersection of Va-122 and Va-221 ( a gas station and two auto parts stores) and continue to drive 8.6 miles through glorious Virginia countryside until you reach Millstone Tea Room, just after North Otter Creek.
FROM SMITH MOUNTAIN LAKE, ROANOKE AND POINTS WEST:
Huddleston Area residents can take Va-43 or Falling Creek Road to Bedford and follow Va-122 North to Millstone Tea Room. Moneta, Hardy & Franklin County should follow Va-122 then Va-460 East and take the Big Island Va-122 North exit toward Independence Blvd. Follow Va-122 through intersection 8.6 miles and look for us on the left, just after North Otter Creek.
All Roanoke and beyond guests, please follow Va-460 East toward Bedford and take the 3rd and final Va-122 North exit. This is the Big Island exit that will place you near a major shopping center. Bear/turn left at this exit and follow Independence Blvd (North) until you reach the intersection of Va-122 and Va-221 (gas station and two auto parts stores) and continue to drive 8.6 miles through glorious Virginia countryside until you reach Millstone Tea Room, just after North Otter Creek.
